A listening ear for international students in Malaysia
Studying far from home is hard. Sometimes you just need someone to talk to.
Care & Connect is a free, private WhatsApp listening line for international students studying anywhere in Malaysia. A trained Care Person will listen, without judgement, in whatever language you are most comfortable in.
No appointment. No fee. You do not need to give your real name.
Who it is for
International students of any nationality, at any institution in Malaysia - undergraduate, postgraduate, foundation or language school. Students often write to us about:
- Homesickness and feeling far from family
- Academic pressure, or the fear of failing a paper
- Loneliness, or trouble making friends outside your own community
- Difficulty with a partner back home, or with someone here
- Money worries
- Visa or paperwork anxiety
- Faith, meaning, or not knowing what comes after graduation
You do not need to be in a crisis to write in. If it is weighing on you, that is reason enough.
How it works
- Save our WhatsApp number.
- Send us a message when you are ready. Write in whatever language you are comfortable in. It can be a full story or a single line.
- A Care Person will reply. During our hours, usually within the same shift.
- The conversation goes at your pace. It can stay on WhatsApp, move to a phone call, or continue in person - whichever suits you.
Outside our hours you will get an automatic reply, and a Care Person will pick up your message when we are next on shift.
What to expect
The Care Person will listen first. They will not judge you, and they will not push you to talk about anything you do not want to.
What you share stays between you and the Care Person. We do not contact your university, your family or the immigration department. You choose what to tell us and what to leave out. There is no charge, for the first message or any that follow.
Frequently asked
Is this really free?
Yes. There is no charge, ever.
Can I stay anonymous?
Yes. Use whatever name you like. We will not ask for anything you do not want to share.
Who are the Care Persons?
Care Persons are trained by AntsEducare to listen and support international students. They are not professional counsellors. If you need specialist help, your Care Person can point you towards it.
Do I have to be religious?
No. Care & Connect is open to students of any faith or none. If you would like the conversation to include a faith or prayer dimension, you can ask. If you would prefer not, that is completely fine.
What if I only speak a little English?
Write in your own language. The Care Person will do their best to reply in a language you understand.
Will my university know I messaged?
No. What you share stays between you and the Care Person.
